Visual artist Vanessa Barragão brings her sustainable textile art to Expo 2025 Osaka, blending tradition with innovation. Internationally acclaimed for her tapestries and decorative pieces, the artist repurposes textile waste to create works that evoke the beauty and fragility of marine ecosystems.
Her work stands out for its strong environmental commitment, using ancestral handcrafting techniques to transform textile industry waste into vibrant, textured compositions. Her creations are not just artistic objects but also visual manifestos on climate change and the urgent need to preserve the oceans.
At Expo 2025 Osaka, the artist will present a textile work inspired by marine ecosystems, reflecting the beauty and fragility of the oceans. Within the theme "Ocean, the Blue Dialogue", this creation aims to raise awareness of the urgent need to protect marine life. Through her work, Vanessa Barragão consistently seeks to establish a connection between art, nature and sustainability, using environmentally friendly materials and processes.
The exhibition will be on display in the Ocean Made room on 1 and 2 June.
