Fado singer Carminho will perform in Osaka on 10 June at the National Day Hall of Expo 2025, as part of the celebrations for Portugal Day, Camões, and the Portuguese Communities.
Carminho is one of the greatest voices in fado and one of Portugal’s most internationally renowned artists. In October 2023, she made her debut in Japan with a successful tour across six cities—Aichi, Shiga, Hyogo, Hiroshima, Tokyo, and Saitama.

11:00 | Opening of the exhibition “Ocean of Poetry / Oceano de Poesia”
Location: Ocean Made Room
An installation of “Vertical Poems” by Portuguese authors, inspired by the Japanese tradition of integrating poetry into decorative elements. The opening will be preceded by a guided visit to the pavilion's permanent exhibition, which on this date will feature the updated film in Room 2.
12:00 | Inauguration of “The Window”
Created by artist ADD FUEL and commissioned by Turismo de Portugal, “The Window” blends art, architecture, and visual archaeology. Fully covered with hand-painted tiles from the Viúva Lamego factory, the work symbolises the centuries-old historical relationship between Portugal and Japan.

22:00 | Brand Activation – “Umi in Dotonbori”
Launch of the 3D projection of Portugal’s mascot, Umi, on one of the most iconic digital billboards in Dotonbori, Osaka’s most vibrant district. For two weeks, the mascot will invite locals and visitors to discover Portugal.
