On 2 July, the Portugal Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka hosted the workshop “Advancing Collaboration in the Digital Sector”, an initiative of the INPACE project, funded by the European Commission's Horizon Europe programme.
The event aimed to strengthen digital collaboration between Europe and the Indo-Pacific region, with a focus on strategic areas such as next-generation connectivity (5G and 6G), cybersecurity, digital cooperation, and Cloud-Edge-IoT technologies applied to smart industry.
Among the speakers, Joana Gomes Cardoso, Portugal's Commissioner-General, highlighted the role of Expo 2025 as a platform to promote dialogue and the exchange of best practices among European countries. She emphasised the shared maritime history between Portugal and Japan, the significance of Expo 98, and the ongoing commitment to sustainability, particularly regarding the ocean.

He highlighted topics such as semiconductors, information exchange between the EU and Japan, and the essential role of technology and innovation for the future.
